The X 60 from Panasonic is a folder type phone, thus is equipped with dual displays. The internal is a full color STN display with the ability to display 65,000 colors. It has a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels. The external display is a monochromic one allowing display of only one line (for caller ID purposes). The user has the option to set the backlight color of this front display from an option of 3 different colors (orange, green and blue). The phone is pored by a Li-Ion battery which gives a good talk time of 4-5 hours along with a standby of 270 hours. The battery is pretty decent but can be drained out pretty quickly if the camera is used a lot especially with the flash function. One of the reasons that the front display is small is because the camera has been integrated into the front part of the cover of the X 60. The camera is a digital one with a 110 K matrix and QCIF images. The pictures taken by the camera can be stored in JPG or PNG formats. The user also has control over the image quality and he can choose to select from Fine, Normal or Economy mode resulting in saving of memory space as well as battery depending on the mode selected. The camera is equipped with a flash enabling the user to take pictures even in the dark thus getting a sufficiently clear picture quality. The X 60 has been given a sufficient amount of memory by its makers, 2 Mb to be dynamically shared amongst all the applications (photos and MMS). One may wonder in that case where is the space for the applications that can be downloaded? The answer is ridiculously simple as in there is no way you can download any applications simply because the Panasonic people have not made the X 60 J2ME compliant. In simple language, no Java applications may be downloaded or stored.
